Who pays my medical bills if I am injured in a car accident?

One of the mandatory coverages under Florida motor vehicle insurance law is known as personal injury protection or PIP insurance.  PIP insurance pays your medical bills for treatment of injuries that are the result of a motor vehicle accident.  The PIP insurance under your own motor vehicle policy will pay your billsBup to $10,000Beven though you are not at fault in the accident.  There are a variety of PIP policies in Florida which have different deductibles.  For instance, if you have a $500 deductible on your PIP insurance, your first $500 in medical treatment is paid by you out of pocket.  All medical bills after the first $500 will be paid at a rate of 80%.  The unpaid 20% of your medical bills remain your obligation to pay.
